Welcome to my April newsletter. Summer seems to have passed us by in Sydney, and winter will be here before we know it!

Bespoke Shirts at J. H. Cutler

I am pleased to say that our bespoke shirt business has shown substantial growth over the last 12 months thanks to the time, care and attention lavished upon it by my very able assistant Sam Hazelton. In particular Sam has spent a lot of time talking to our clients about exactly what they wanted as far as their bespoke shirts were concerned.
As a result we have:

• Reduced our prices, which now start from a very competitive $330 per shirt, with absolutely no loss of quality
• Consolidated our bespoke shirt making here in Sydney, with only a very few of our shirts continuing to be made in Italy to meet specific client preferences
• Reviewed our systems and procedures to maximise efficiency and quality
• Introduced an average turnaround time of 21 days, from your placing an order to delivery
• Greatly expanded the range of shirt fabrics that you have to choose from, primarily by increasing the range of fabric suppliers we use.

Update on Our Search for the Oldest J. H. Cutler Garment

I mentioned in February that we have launched a quest to find the oldest existing garment made by my company. Details are to be included in a book being written on J. H. Cutler by David Dowsey, the writer and journalist. So far the oldest garment to come to light is a 1948 dinner suit. In times gone by it was common practise for the male members of prominent country families to ask the company to store their formal clothing at our premises in Sydney ready for use when they came to town. This practise all but died out in the 1960s and this suit has remained unclaimed to this day.
I am really hopeful of finding something older but it is a good start.

New Season Fabric Ranges

As is usual at this time of year I have now received a number of new fabric books from my suppliers in Europe. As they have been put together for the 2012 European summer they are well suited (excuse the pun!) to year round wear here in Australia. You are welcome to have a browse through them next time you are in the showroom.

London Style By John Cutler

Many of you will remember that I launched this made to measure business in 2010 to market alongside my existing more upmarket bespoke business. Recently I have made some changes in the sourcing of the London Style garments, and by moving to working with a manufacturer in Europe have been able to offer a considerable reduction in price. London Style made to measure suits are now priced between $1,750 and $2,500 depending on the choice of fabric, jackets and blazers are $1,350, trousers and waistcoats $395, and overcoats from $2,150 to $2,500, again depending on choice of fabric.

Run of Positive Media Stories Continues

In recent months J. H. Cutler has been fortunate to be featured in a number of very positive stories across a range of top quality media. April has been no exception with an excellent story appearing in JETGALA magazine. This ultra luxury Singapore - based title’s readership consists of executive jet owners and users throughout the Asia Pacific region.
